Blind - Hide - Birding

As a nature photographer with a strong inclination on birds, I have to say that -even when difficult and tiring- shooting from a blind it's my favorite mode... subjects are close and quiet, you can set up gear and yourself with time and specially because shooting with a sturdy tripod makes those images look great!

Como fotografo de naturaleza con fuerte inclinacion hacia las aves, debo reconocer que -aun con lo limitante y cansado que es- fotear desde un escondite es mi modo favorito... los sujetos estan cerca y apasibles, se puede acomodar uno y preparar los parametros con chance y -lo mejor- disparar con un tripode solido hace que las imagenes resulten excelentes!

Over this post, I'll be showing some styles and set ups for different blinds on several conditions... from my portable ones, to the ones you find in some hotspots already prepare at times... from the cool sophisticated, to the most simple and easy to create ways of hiding properly.

Sobre este tema, les ire mostrando algunos estilos y arreglos para diferentes escondites en diferentes condiciones... desde mis portatiles, hasta algunos fijos que han puesto en sitios buenos... desde escondites sofisticados, hasta las mas sencillas maneras de esconderse exitosamente

I'll start showing you my favorite portable...
Using a camping tent, I arranged holes in specific areas to make the lens out, re-enforced the netting on the windows -so that I can see well, but nothing can be seen from outside- and took off the floor of the tent -to avoid noise as I move around-

Empiezo mostrandoles mi favorito portatil...
Uso una amplia tienda de acampar, a la que le he hecho agujeros especificos para sacar el lente, le he reforzado la net de las ventanas -de forma que yo veo bien desde adentro pero nada se ve desde afuera- y le he eliminado el piso -para evitar ruidos al moverme dentro-

In this blind you can put up to 2 persons shooting and 1 more looking... It's completely fresh and you can use any comfortable chairs...
You need good open space for setting and it takes some time to put it up (better between 2 persons)

En este escondite caben 2 personas foteando comodamente y 1 mas mirando...
Es completamente fresco y se puede usar cualquier tipo de silla agradable
Se necesita buen espacio abierto para ponerla y cuesta algo de trabajo el montarla (mejor entre 2 personas)

Have no doubts, though... it works greatly and puts you in position for shots that other ways would be impossible...

No se dude... funciona super bien y lo pone a uno en pocision para fotos que de otra forma serian impossibles

Some hotspots have complete and comfortable hiding buildings to take a lot of people... some even have toilets next to them...

Such is the case of a wooden box donated by Swarovski Optics in a nature park located at the Ebro Delta - Catalonia-... In cold season you're well saved too

Este es el caso de un comodo edificio de madera construido por Swarovski Optics en un parque natural que queda en el Delta del Rio Ebro - Cataluña-... aqui en epoca fria, esta uno tambien resguardado

This is the inside of a similar blind at the Llobregat, behind Barcelona's Airport with nice -ok- benches to seat and wide windows to look and shoot up to the wetlands full of waterfowl

Esto es dentro de otro escondite similar en Llobregat, detras del Aeropuerto de Barcelona, con bancas -ok- para sentarse y amplias ventanas abiertas para mirar y fotear en los humedales cargados de aves acuaticas

In this great bird sanctuary of Llobregat as in the one at Aiguamolls d'la Emporda, there is another type of blind... a wall to look though small windows at the waterfowl swimming close by while you're walking or standing there...

En este bello santuario de las aves en Llobregat, lo mismo que en el de Aiguamolls d'la Emporda, se encuentra otro tipo de escondite... una pared con ventanillas para mirar las aves nadando cerca mientras se camina o se esta de pie...

The Big Blind I have (tent) weights about 2kg when you carry it folded on a
compact little bag that is camouflaged as well

Something important I would like to comment about hiding for bird photography, it's about our clothing... Nothing we gain with a great blind, if dressing white that wildlife can see from outside... we should camouflage too in order to be invisible...

Algo importante que me gustaria comentar de esconderse para fotear aves, es sobre lo que vestimos... Nada ganamos con un excelente escondite, si dentro de el usamos blanco y los animales nos notan... nosotros debemos camuflarnos tambien para ser invisibles

Wearing camouflaged clothing and accessories one barely needs to hide and birds will be little or nothing disturbed when we walk out of the blind

Usando ropa y accesorios camuflados, uno apenas si necesita esconderse y las aves ni notan -practicamente nada- cuando se sale del escondite

This other one is in the market with the name of Kamo Kiwi and it's the coolest personal hiding system ever, to cover you and your gear in all different positions (standing, seating, laying on your belly)... Notice how small ends up been as you roll it into itself...

Este otro esta en el mercado con el nombre de Kamo Kiwi y es el sistema personalizado mas completo de camuflage, para cubrirse uno con todo y equipo y en diversas posiciones (de pie, sentado, acostado)... notese como queda de chiquito al arrollarlo...
